Swale Lions Club “Keeping pupils Safe”

As part of their local community service, members of Swale Lions sought a way to help local children by keeping them safe whilst out on school trips and came up with the idea of providing Hi Visibility Tabards emblazoned with the individual schools logo as well as the clubs own.

Lion Sid Morris (Club Membership Chairman) said “The club membership team felt that the Tabards would ensure pupils are seen clearly whilst out and about on trips, would provide a bright and conspicuous focus point for teachers should pupils  ever become separated from their group and a distinct point of recognition for pupils”

In early April Lion President Gillian Edwards presented tabards to Canterbury Road Primary School, Teynham C of E Primary School and to the Oaks Infants School. She said “It was a pleasure and a privilege to be able to meet the children at their school assemblies and to be able to provide practical help in this way. Being a Lion is all about helping others in the community and this is a terrific example of how something quite simple can be of great benefit.”

Pupils have already been putting their new tabards to good use on various school trips

Assembly at Teynham C of E Primary had something a little different from usual when Lion President Gillian Edwards arrived to present the school with their 30 Tabards.

Head Teacher Mrs Pearson said “Teynham Parochial C of E Primary School were very grateful to Swale Lions who presented us with some great new Tabards in March 2019 – THANK YOU​ SO MUCH”

Swale Lions Club Mascot “Lester” made a surprise visit to the morning Assembly at Grove Park School and to the delight of pupils made the final presentation to Deputy Head Mrs Laura Hibberd. Mrs Hibberd said “We are delighted with the tabards generously given to us by Swale Lions and are very thankful. We are looking forward to using them on our school trips for many years to come.”
